Ronald and Nancy Reagan
Ronald Reagan may seem to have had the most unusual background of any American President—actor, and actor in mostly “B” movies at that—but he actually came to the office with great executive experience having headed the Screen Actors Guild union and then state of California as Governor. He also had a philosophy that had been honed by years of study and writing. His 8 years as President were filled with highlights - the beginning of the collapse of the Soviet Union, a tremendous economic recovery; problems- the rise of Islamic terrorism, the Iran-Contra affair. As President he gave a long series of beautifully crafted and delivered speeches, thus the nickname “The Great Communicator”.
Beside him, was his loving wife Nancy who had to struggle being mother to a blended family, suffer through the assassination attempt on her husband, and eventually deal with her own physical difficulties. Theirs is truly a great love story. As Nancy said of Ronnie “My life began when I met my husband.” As Ronnie said of Nancy, “I can’t imagine a life without her...Life began when I met Nancy.”
